Hi I’m Ethan. I believe local government works best when it's focused on delivering real results for local taxpayers. Residents deserve a councillor who is committed to showing up, doing the work, and advocating on behalf of their community every day. That's the standard I'll bring to Ward 5.
I grew up in Trent Hills, and now call the Hastings area home. I know that Trent Hills, and Ward 5 in particular, is a community with incredible strengths: dedicated local businesses, hard-working volunteers, and residents who care deeply about where they live. As a Ward 5 resident myself, I’m committed to representing us with accountability, transparency, and respect, while being accessible and ready to deliver tangible results for this community.
I’d be honoured to earn your vote.

Ethan Armit has worked on the front lines of public service in communities across Ontario for over two decades. His public sector experience across municipal, provincial, and broader public-sector organizations, spans parks and recreation, wildfire management, post-secondary education, and public works. He has an insider’s understanding of how government works, where challenges arise, and how to advance solutions anyway.
Ethan has also launched and led several successful businesses, earning a reputation for being someone who rolls up his sleeves, tackles problems head-on, and finds practical ways of turning vision into reality. He also demonstrates this in his volunteer work with the 1st Hastings Scouts and the Board of the Friends of Ferris Park.
Whether in business, public service, or community work, Ethan has a proven track record of listening first, finding solutions, and delivering results that make people's lives better.
Vibrant Community Spaces
I support moving quickly to redevelop the downtown park lands in Hastings into a true community hub - a place where people want to gather, connect, and support local businesses.
I will seek grants, build partnerships, and pursue every funding opportunity available to make this vision a reality without placing unnecessary burden on taxpayers.
Excellent Local Healthcare
We don’t need to reinvent the wheel. We need to learn from neighbouring communities that are successfully attracting new physicians and invest in partnerships that meet local healthcare needs today and into the future.
Building the new hospital in Trent Hills as soon as possible must remain one of our community’s highest priorities. A modern hospital will unlock even more opportunities to attract physicians, expand services, support our existing healthcare teams, and ensure families can access quality care close to home.
My vision is for Trent Hills to become the community others point to as a model for rural healthcare in Ontario.
Better Value for Taxpayers
I believe your tax dollars should be treated with respect. That means making thoughtful decisions, empowering municipal staff, and reducing unnecessary outsourcing where practical.
It also means reducing reliance on property taxes as the primary answer to financial challenges. Rather than property tax increases, I support finding new sources of revenue through responsible tourism and local economic growth.
Whether you have an hour to volunteer or simply want to stay connected, your support will help build a stronger campaign and a stronger Ward 5.
